Our 8th Habitat home is finished and our partner family is very happy with their new home. As we close the books on this project we are reminded that building a Habitat home is a community project. These homes can only be built with community support through volunteers, donors, and funding. We would like to remember and to thank the many donors who contributed funding, materials, labor, and support to construct this home:
Hess Corporation; in the spring of 2008, Hess Corporation provided a generous donation of $27,000 that enabled us to start serious planning on this project
Choice Hotels International; provided a funding donation of $10,000
ACB Construction; Al Bulow and his crew of professional builders performed the initial excavation and constructed the foundation. Throughout the build, ACB provided building assistance, tools, and whatever was needed to keep us on schedule. We are very grateful for all of their help.
Furgeson Enterprises; Furgeson was the exclusive supplier of plumbing fixtures on this home. Their donation of bath tubs, tub surrounds, sinks, toilets, and all of the pieces and parts saved us several thousand dollars on the cost of the build.
IBEW Local 714; Joey Bratvold and the electrical apprentice classes did a great job installing the home's wiring, lights, switches, outlets, and other electrical systems. The union apprentices donate their labor to save us the expense of hiring an electrical contractor. Thanks guys!!
ACME Electric; A home build often requires special tools that we must rent. The good folks at ACME in Minot saved us hundreds of dollars in donated and discounted rental fees for this equipment. Thanks to Shawn Bailey and our other community neighbors at ACME Electric for their continued support of Habitat's mission.
Gown Rain Gutter; Gowan provides discounted seamless gutters and downspouts for Minot's Habitat homes. We appreciate their support as proper installation of rain gutters is essential for the gutters to do their job. Dave Gowan and his crew did another outstanding job on this home. Thanks guys!
American Bank Center; Donated funding that enabled Habitat to purchase a badly needed table saw. Having the proper tools is essential on a home build and American Bank's generosity will benefit Habitat families for years to come.
Royal Neighbors Association; Minot's Royal Neighbors have donated a new Whirlpool dishwasher to each of the last four Habitat homes, to include our Valley Street home. RNA also provided lunch for our volunteers and we are grateful for RNA's support.
Semmens Painting; volunteered to professionally paint the home's interior.
Volunteers; Habitat for Humanity volunteers are the foundation which supports our success. Without dedicated community members coming out to help build these homes, the Nelson family home would be a vacant lot and this family would be trapped in a substandard rental property.
On this build we had many, many volunteers from Minot Air Force Base, Minot State University, Hess Corporation, Habitat for Humanity board members, church groups, as well as folks who simply wished to help their neighbors and lend their support to a worthy cause. Thanks to all of your who made this build possible and this dream come true for the Nelson family. No matter how many hours you were able to volunteer on this project; whether in committee work or building, your support is important to us and makes a difference in the Minot community.
Listing every group, business, and individual to contributed to this build would be impossible, but we appreciate your support. This includes the person who may have seen a news story on Habitat in Minot and sent a $10 or $20 donation to support the build. Thank You! These contributions are important and help to keep Habitat's work moving forward.
